The qualification provides you with formal recognition of the competence to work as an approved fire safety assessor and equips you with the tools and knowledge to complete a fire risk assessment.
The qualification supports the outcomes and recommendations contained in ‘Raising the Bar: Improving competence, building a safer future’ - published in the wake of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
Each candidate is required to produce an online portfolio of evidence which demonstrates their achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each of the units detailed below. The course consists of 12 days delivery, and it is recommended that all learners attend these sessions, as the exercises within provide evidence towards the qualification.
The Level 5 Diploma in Fire Safety and Risk Management consists of the following mandatory units.
• Review fire safety matters ensuring compliance with fire safety regulation and guidance.
• Assess arrangements to ensure an adequate means of warning and escape
• Identify, assess and control fire hazards
• Assess arrangements to prevent internal and external fire spread
• Manage fire safety matters in houses in multiple occupation and residential care
